  6.          INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:                
  7.        
  8.        Simply copy all files to your AOE directory and type: PATCH
  9.  
  10.        The patch file will make all necessary file changes and verify
  11.        that the patch has worked.  
  12.  
  13.        We also suggest that, if you are NOT using a Colorado Spectrum
  14.        Notebook Game Port, you run the batch file FIXJOY.BAT, included in
  15.        this patch.  To run this simply type: FIXJOY  This will disable the
  16.        initialization process for the Gamp Port, which has been shown to
  17.        cause problems on machines not equipped with the Notebook Game Port. 
  18.        Should you subsequently purchase a Notebook Game Port, the
  19.        initialization can be re-enabled by typing: FIXJOY U
  20.          
  21.          PATCH ENHANCEMENTS
  22.  
  23.        Owners of newer Packard Bell computers were experiencing
  24.        problems when attempting to fly missions.  This would result
  25.        in a lockup when the "Please Wait" screen was displayed.  This
  26.        has been corrected.

  28.        There also appeared to be a conflict between the
  29.        initialization routine for the Notebook Game Port adaptor and 
  30.        the memory configuration of a few machines, most notably
  31.        ACERs.  Using the FIXJOY.bat eliminates these problems.

  33.        Some customers have still reported erratic behavior with
  34.        certain joystick/gamecard/computer combinations.  We have
  35.        incorporated several fixes to our joystick code which we believe
  36.        completely addresses all of these complaints.

  38.        We would like to thank Bob Church for providing us with his
  39.        source code for his joystick patches, which are justifiably
  40.        famous among the Compuserve community.  We would also like to
  41.        thank Bob for the great help he gave us in testing this patch.
